Our Story

PNSQC was founded in 1982 as a nonprofit Oregon corporation to help people learn from one another and improve the practice of software quality. Over the decades, the organization has grown through changes in technology, venues, volunteers, and the quality profession itself.

The current mission, Enabling Quality Through Community, reflects what has remained central to PNSQC: people sharing practical experience, learning across organizations, and making quality knowledge easier to access.

What We Do

Annual conference

PNSQC brings practitioners, researchers, and leaders together for workshops, technical sessions, peer learning, and conversation about quality.

Community learning events

Monthly meetup events give the community a place to discuss current quality topics throughout the year.

Knowledge sharing

PNSQC has long supported published proceedings and practical experience reports so ideas can continue helping the quality community outside our events.

What We Value

Merit-based participation

You do not need to know someone special, be famous, or be part of an in-crowd to speak at PNSQC. Good ideas and useful experience matter.

Inclusive community

Quality benefits from many viewpoints. PNSQC works to create a welcoming space for volunteers, speakers, and attendees.

Volunteer stewardship

The organization is sustained by volunteers who care about practical learning, professional connection, and the future of software quality.

Diversity and Inclusion

As an organization, we believe in bringing Quality Best Practices to anyone and everyone by creating a safe space for anyone and everyone to participate. PNSQC works to ensure that our board, volunteers, and conference attendees reflect the diverse reality of the world. In everything we do, we strive to ensure a quality experience for everyone, regardless of ability, age, cultural identity, education level, professional background, ethnicity, faith, gender, gender expression, gender identity, ideology, income, national origin, race, or sexual orientation.

Trust and Governance

PNSQC is governed by a volunteer board and maintains public policies that support a credible, welcoming, and accountable community.
